Note: This was featured as part of our Web Wednesday segment on Charleston’s 105.5 The Bridge. You can catch us every Wednesday morning at 8:20 am ET for your dose of social media & digital marketing news. You can listen to the segment below:

By now you are probably familiar with Instagram Stories. Launched in August 2016, they have been a huge factor in the decline of Snapchat. Instagram copied the idea of photos and videos disappearing in 24 hours and have now also introduced Story Highlights in December of 2017. An incredible 400 million people around the world use Instagram Stories on a daily basis (with that number rapidly growing by the minute).

A recent study by Buffer shares some insight on this trending social media tactic. According to the data, you should be aiming to keep your Instagram Stories short, with the researchers noting that completion rates drop below 70% after seven frames. It also states that the completion rates of Instagram Stories peak between 4 am and 6 am, 8 am and 10 am, 12 pm and 2 pm and 8 pm and 10 pm. Another key finding included within the report’s notes is that you don’t have to create 10 professional, polished Stories to win out with the format. People want to see authentic, organic, and “in the now” Stories. In all, simplicity is key. Use a backdrop image to quickly tell a story, add minimal text while conveying your message, and decorate with a few graphics and logos. Now post!

It is important to stay consistent with your storytelling and incorporate this into your daily routine. Of course, we are happy to help with any of your Instagram Story needs! If you are interested in our services, give us a call at (888) 632-4499 and we can discuss your strategy.
