It’s February, which means that love is in the air. While most people are more concerned with COVID than Cupid, there’s no reason we can’t celebrate the love in our lives. And that goes beyond sending candy to your sweetheart. If you’re a business owner, now is the perfect time to show your business some love.

If you’re stumped about how to give your company the TLC it needs, we’ve come up with five ways you can show your business that you truly care.

1. Update Your Social Media Profiles

Often, when someone is interested in using a business’s services or products, the first thing they do is check out their Facebook page or Instagram feed. That’s why having all your social ducks in a row is an essential part of a good digital marketing plan.

Look through the bios and “about” sections on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Is all the information up-to-date? If you’ve recently changed your products or services, it’s important for your social accounts to reflect that. Set a reminder for at least once a quarter to make sure your profiles are as current as possible.

2. Optimize Your Google My Business Listing

Show your business some love by optimizing your Google My Business (GMB) listing. If you don’t know what GMB is, it’s a business listing that owners can use to manage their online presence. It combines basic information like a business’s location and hours with reviews.

If you don’t already have a GMB listing, then head to https://www.google.com/business and follow the directions to set it up and verify it.

Once you have the listing make sure you do the following to optimize it:

  • Make sure your information is accurate and up-to-date. It should match the information on your website.
  • Choose the most accurate business category possible.
  • Use a specific and informative description.
  • Add attributes that give searchers more information about your business.
  • Choose imagery for your profile photo and cover photo. You can also include a video.
  • Ask for reviews and respond to them. Or ask your marketing partner if they offer online reputation management (ORM) services.

3. Make a Content Plan

What you post on social media, what you write on your blog, and what your website says all play a huge role in SEO and brand awareness. Creating engaging content will not only help you bring people to your site, but it can also allow you to create that all-important brand voice

The best way to produce high-quality content is to devise a content plan. Content planning lets you map out the topics you want to cover and see how they’ll best fit together to represent your business. Creating a content calendar can help you plan ahead and save you time in the long run since you won’t have to scramble day-to-day to figure out what to write and post.

Some people find planning for the month to be beneficial, while others prefer planning for an entire quarter to be best for them. It all depends on how often you plan to post, where you plan to post, and how time-sensitive your content is.

4. Refresh Your Branding

Businesses should be living things that grow and change. But you don’t want to make big changes so often that your brand is inconsistent. That’s where the brand refresh comes in. While it’s not as extreme as a full rebrand, it can invigorate your brand if things feel stale. It’s evolution, not revolution.

The scale of a brand refresh depends on a business’s needs. Start by looking at the imagery on your website and social media accounts. If things are looking dated and no longer reflect your brand’s identity, schedule a brand photoshoot.

Other things you can do during a brand refresh include:

  • Tweaking your current logo
  • Changing color palettes
  • Introducing a new slogan
  • Replacing outdated marketing materials
  • Updating your brand’s voice in content

5. Invest in Video

Video’s influence has been ever-expanding for years now. And that isn’t going to change. If you really want to show your business some love, make this the year you get serious about investing in video.

Getting started can seem intimidating, but it’s an important step to take. Think about what kind of content you want to create and where you’ll be posting it (Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, TikTok). Tap into your brand voice and start with what you know. You’re an expert on your business, so start there. Make a plan for what your videos will be about and how often you want to post.

Then, do a bit of research on what you’ll need to create your videos. You might be surprised to find that you can do a lot with your phone as long as it has a decent camera. If you need something a bit more polished, then it may be worth looking into finding a marketing partner that can professionally film and edit videos for you.
