Video is incredibly popular in the world of digital marketing, and it’s not going anywhere. This means your business should be creating videos in order to keep up with the competition. Not sure where to start?

The first thing you need to look into is your available resources. Do you have access to a video production team that can film and edit your videos? Or will you be DIYing your video content with your own camera or smartphone? What kind of budget do you have to put towards your video marketing?

The budget you have available will determine what kind of video you’re able to invest in. For example, if you have a larger budget, you might look into an animated video that really encompasses your brand. If you have a much smaller budget, you could start with a more lightweight video like a talking head.

No matter what your budget, however, you want to stay away from a slideshow-style video. The human attention span keeps getting shorter, and you really only get about three seconds to capture the viewer’s attention.

Next, you’ll look into your sales funnel. Where do you need the most help? If you’re struggling at the very top of your funnel, you might look into creating an explainer video that breaks down a topic for your viewers, or an animated video for visualizing concepts that your viewers might otherwise struggle to understand. These are great video types for starting out and can help to attract viewers to your website and to the top of your sales funnel.

Where your funnel needs the most help will determine where your marketing video should live. Continuing with our initial example–if you’re trying to attract people to the top of your sales funnel–you’ll want to include your video in a blog post, on YouTube, or on Facebook. If you’re trying to convert customers, include your video in an email campaign or a landing page in the middle of your funnel.

There are eight different types of marketing videos you can create. To learn more about these types and implementing them for your brand, sign up for a free consultation or give us a call at (888) 632-4499.
