4 Types of Facebook Apps You Should be Using

In this day and age, when you hear the phrase, “there’s an app for that”, it is more likely to be true than not. What most people don’t realize, though, is how many apps are available for Facebook’s platform, aside from the handful of silly games that you constantly receive invitations for (looking at you farmville). If you run a Facebook page, there are some awesome apps available to you to help improve your page’s presence and increase your brand awareness.

1. Custom Facebook Tabs

One of the first things we do when creating a new Facebook page for our clients is to install a custom tabs app. These applications allow you to basically install mini web-pages on your Facebook page, which can be customized to display anything from an image to an opt-in form for a contest. Some of our favorites in this category include WooBox, ShortStack, and Tabfoundry. These apps are highly customizable and are a great addition to any Facebook page.

2. Quiz/Poll Apps

These apps are fantastic for keeping your customers and your audience engaged, and finding out more about them! SurveyMonkey is one of the top apps in this category, and they offer templates for dozens of types of surveys, from political surveys to customer satisfaction. They also offer tips on how to get the most out of your surveys!

3. Scheduled Posting Apps

To get the most out of your content, it’s important to plan ahead and make sure that you are posting the right content at the right time. Facebook has a built in scheduling system, but there are some apps that can be used to help streamline the process and post to multiple platforms at the same time. Buffer and Hootsuite are scheduling apps that will help you take your scheduled content to the next level!

4. E-Commerce or Storefront Apps

If you are a brand or business who sells product online through your website, you can integrate an e-commerce app onto your Facebook page to broaden your reach. Featuring your products on your page makes it easier for customers to see and purchase your products, and it’s always a good idea to make things easier for your customer! EasySocialShop integrates with many platforms that you may be using already to sell your products, such as Ebay or Etsy. Shopify is a good option if you don’t already have an online store, because it will allow you to build one then integrate that store with Facebook.

There are so many useful apps available through Facebook, and we have only scratched the surface here. Taking advantage of these apps, most of them being free, will help you to step your social media game up and help you convert those customers that you may be losing by not having a fully fleshed out Facebook page!
