During the pandemic, eCommerce brands have been taken to another level and have arguably gained the most value from social media. “Recent data from the Sprout Social Index should serve as a wake-up call for retailers skeptical about what social media is worth. Whether it’s a digital or in-person purchase, social followers signal potential business for brands of all shapes and sizes.” This means any seller can bring their business online, no matter the budget. The launch of “Shops” on Facebook and Instagram makes it easier to not only set up a store online but to connect to your customers whenever it’s convenient. Let’s take a look at what you need to know about the newest feature!

For years Facebook, who also owns Instagram, has been connecting you to the brands, businesses, and products you love. People have used the platform for selling items on Facebook Marketplace all the way to shopping items from your favorite influencers on Instagram. The goal has been to incorporate more shopping options, and they’ve rolled out the simple way to extend your business with a “Shop Builder” platform. This feature gives you the ability to connect to your existing eCommerce provider or upload your products one-by-one.

Facebook is working with the following providers:

  • BigCommerce
  • Cafe24
  • CedCommerce
  • ChannelAdvisor
  • Feedonomics
  • Tienda Nube
  • Shopify
  • WooCommerce

Where can you find the Shops option? According to Facebook, “People can find Facebook Shops on a business’ Facebook Page or Instagram profile, or discover them through stories or ads. From there, you can browse the full collection, save products you’re interested in and place an order — either on the business’ website or without leaving the app if the business has enabled checkout in the US.” Privacy settings have also been built into the Shops Feature, read more about how your business will be protected here.

If you’re looking for selections from creators and brands you love, get some inspiration by following Instagram @shop. Later this year, Facebook will be adding a new shop tab in the navigation bar. This will give you the ability to get to your Instagram Shop in just one click!

These features are helping to relieve some pressure and are also helping smaller businesses to grow and prepare for the future during COVID- 19. Shops will be expanding globally for eligible businesses over the next few months. You should receive an email notification when your shop is ready to be customized!

Whether your business is small or large, this makes it easier for people to shop for their favorite products and discover new things they love. If you need assistance in setting up your Shops Feature on social media, give TargetMarket a call today at (888) 632-4499 or complete this form.
