Social media platforms are emerging and changing each and every day. Here’s what you need to know about Vero, a fairly new social media app that is a one-stop shop for all of your interests:

What Is Vero?

Vero is a social media app that was founded by Ayman Hariri just about three years ago, with intentions to create an online social network that exists between people. It never had the demand and popularity as Instagram and Snapchat did, but the tables have turned and it has risen quickly to one of the top free apps in the Apple Store. Vero means “truth” because it’s an app that allows you to be yourself and see content that you want to see.

What Is Different?

A lot of social media users get fed up with the constantly changing algorithms within Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat. Vero endorses claims that it doesn’t and will not use algorithms to target its users. Vero also doesn’t use traditional advertising, relying on a to-be-launched subscription model instead. A lot of people worry about their personal information being given out, yet this app only collects your name, number and email for registration purposes.

We notice that our social media platforms are smothered in irrelevant posts and information from people we may not even know, but Vero has a feature that simply shows chronological content from close friends and acquaintances that you rate yourself.

The best part? No ads!

How Is Vero Funded?

Most social networks are free because they’re funded by advertising. However, Vero does not have any ads. Vero plans to eventually depend on paid subscriptions for only a few dollars per year, but for now has extended an offer to provide “free for life” membership to the first million users, which has really increased the number of users downloading the app.

Vero plans to make money on products sold through the app using the “buy now” feature. Users are more likely to buy a product after seeing posts and videos of someone wearing a certain outfit and charging the merchants a transaction fee brings in revenue.
