Writing for your own blog is a strategy that we recommend for nearly every client. However, it’s also important to focus on the strategy of getting people on your blog to read your content. This is something we implement in each of our client accounts, but one great tactic for increasing traffic and blog readers is guest posting.

Guest posting is the act of creating a blog post filled with the same kind of content you write for your own blog, and then publish it on another blog in your industry. Sure, creating additional content may seem like a lot of work (although we can do that for you ????), there are a lot of benefits for your business.

Learn more about how guest posting can increase traffic to your website and widen your customer base.

1. Position yourself as an authority in your industry

Positioning yourself or your business as an authority and putting your name out there is essential to becoming a well-known resource in your industry. When people see your business name all over multiple sites in your industry, you begin to become a more trusted source of information, and one of the first businesses people think of when they need your products or services.

2. Generate traffic back to your website

When you create a blog post for another site in your industry, you’re putting your business in front of totally different group of people than before. Writing a guest blog for another site, especially a large influencer in your industry, introduces your business to an entirely new audience, increasing traffic and exposure for your site, as well as an entirely new customer base.

3. Build backlinks to your website

You will typically always include a bio for you/your business at the end of your guest post giving you the chance to introduce yourself and link back to your website/blog and social sites. You should also link back to your website any chance you get throughout your blog post. Covering a topic you’ve discussed on your blog before? Link to that post. This builds backlinks to your website, which helps demonstrate to the search engine algorithms that your website is an authoritative source and people have shared your content.
